Native to tropical Africa and India, the pomegranate or Annar is a small deciduous tree with an irregular, much-branched crown. The shiny dark bluish Annar plant having green leaves contain an oil rich juice which is useful for treating skin irritation and fever. Pomegranate plant is extremely hardy and was introduced into Europe in the sixteenth century by Spanish and Portuguese sailors who brought cuttings back from Anatolia to Spain.
